i 509.6 CLEARING THE WORE AREA <br /> Before a drill rig is positioned to drill, the area on <br /> which the rig is to be positioned should be cleared of removable <br /> obstacles and the rig should be leveled if sloped. The <br /> I <br /> cleared/leveled area should be large enough to accommodate the rig <br /> 1R1� and supplies. <br /> !z <br /> 509.7 SAFE USE OF AUGERS <br /> Never place hands or fingers under the bottom of an auger <br /> flight or drill rods when hoisting the augers or rods over the top <br /> of another auger ,or rod in the ground or other hard surfaces, such <br /> as the drill rig platform. <br /> Never allow feet to get under the auger or drill rod <br /> while they are being hoisted. <br /> When drill is rotating, stay clear of the drill string <br /> and other rotating components of the drill rig. Never reach behind <br /> or around a rotating auger for any reason. <br /> M Move auger cuttings away from the auger with a long- <br /> handled shovel or spade: never use hands or feet. <br /> Never clean an auger attached to the drill rig unless the <br /> transmission is in neutral or the engine is off, and the auger has <br /> stopped rotating. <br /> 509.8 SAFE USE OF hX?D TOOLS <br /> OSHA regulations regarding hand tools should be observed <br /> w in addition to the guidelines provided below: <br /> HAS-PRO509 HS-509-4 November 1990 <br />
