Metal fines generated from resurfacing brake drums and rotors are being recycled as scrap metal <br /> without first determining particle size or hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall <br /> determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop recycling metal fines, make a hazardous <br /> waste determination for the metal fines, and manage it according the Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is <br /> determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how <br /> this waste was managed by 8-9-14. <br /> During the inspection a sample of the metal fines was taken. Split sample was provided to the owner. <br /> 999. HSC 25404(e)(4) Electronic submittal requirement on the California Electronic Reporting System <br /> (CERS) has not been met. Facility shall submit electronic information for hazardous materials <br /> management system, including Hazardous Waste and UST on the CERS website which can be found at <br /> httpi//cers.calepa.gov/.
