Douglas P. O'Neal Page Two
Department of Toxic Substances Control
grout from the water table to 5 feet bls should he adequate to cause the neat cement to penetrate
the filter pack. Based on the volume of 7.4 cubic feet inside the casing, assuming a filter pack
porosity of 30%, and allowing for 10% extra, 13.2 cubic feet of neat cement grout will be
injected into the well casing using a mud pump and tremie pipe or drill stem. The gout will
consist of approximately 5.2 to 6.0 gallons of water per sack of cement. It is anticipated that
Kearney will employ Rival Water Well Drilling Company to destroy the well. The existing well
vault and upper 5 feet of casing will be excavated and the hole backfilled with native soil.
The exact date for the decommissioning of well KS-15 has not been set, but it is anticipated that
the work will occur in mid August. As always we will inform you of the date several days prior
to the work so that you may observe the decommissioning if you want to.
If you have any questions or require further discussion, please contact me.
Very truly yours,
DUDEK &ASSOCIATE/S, INC.
a(&,,t/vt- 1,
Peter T.
