(Workplan) <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> The Northern California Geological Services Unit (GSU) of the Department of Toxic <br /> Substances Control (DISC) has reviewed the above-referenced Workplan for <br /> decommissioning monitoring wells KS-7 and KI-7 at the former Kearney-KPF Facility in <br /> Stockton. Located on San Rafael Avenue, a residential street northwest of the facility, <br /> these wells have been inaccessible since being paved over in the late 1996 to early <br /> 1997 timeframe. This memorandum provides the GSU comments and <br /> recommendations. If you have questions, please call me at (916) 255-6537 or Brian <br /> Lewis at (916) 255-6532. <br /> OVERALL RECOMMENDATION <br /> GSU recommends approval of the Workplan with the following conditions: <br /> a. To ensure that the filter pack pore space is backfilled with cement, a grout volume of <br /> at least three times the estimated backfill volume for the casing and filter pack <br /> should be pressure grouted into the well during decommissioning.
