Twice a month until WDRs are revised by the Board.
If during the initial 24 hours of the system prove-out the effluent from the final treatment vessel
exceeds 4µg/1 1,4-dioxane in two consecutive samples, Kearney has agreed to shut down the
system and discontinue the discharge. Kearney shall also shut down the system and discontinue
the discharge if the daily maximum effluent limits in WDR No. 91-220 and/or 4 µg/1 1,4-dioxane
are exceeded in any sample obtained after the first 24 hours of the prove-out. If the system is
shut down because the aforementioned effluent limits are exceeded, Kearney may restart the
discharge only with the written approval of Board staff.
We request Kearney to notify DTSC and Board staff at least 72 hours prior to beginning field
work to install the remediation system so an inspection may be scheduled.
