Ms. Barbara Coler -3- 16 October 1996
has chosen not to respond to the Board's request to define the extent of the dioxane
contamination, since DTSC is the lead state agency for that site.
We request that you reconsider your directive. Alternatively, we would appreciate
either an amendment or clarification to your memo which informs DTSC staff and RPs
that Regional Boards may have more stringent requirements with which RPs must
comply. Perhaps more importantly, we request that future similar directives to your
staff be coordinated with other agencies, such as this Board, which share your interest
and are affected by implementation. Likewise, staff of this Board will coordinate with
DTSC should we be considering such directives of mutual interest.
Thank you for your consideration. Please contact me (916-255-3039; CALNET 494-
3039) or Larry Pearson (-3036), or Antonia Vorster (-3046) if you would like to
discuss this matter further.
TRP
Attachments
cc w/attachments: Regional Board AEOs
• Recycled Paper Opo mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of California i waler resoivres.and
G
ensure their proper allocation and efficient use for the benefit of present and furwe generations.
