PILKINGTON
Aug. 20, 2004
Ray von Flue
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Dept.
304 E. Weber Ave.
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Mercury spill cleanup
OES Call Ref. #344553/ EHD Log #04-038
Dear Ray:
As we discussed in our telephone conversation of July 1, 2004, 1 am sending you copies
of the following documents relating to the above incident:
• The time sheet for the site cleanup/decontamination contractor— Morgan
Environmental.
• The Non-hazardous (universal) Waste, Manifest (Dec. #P6001) for the mercury
contained in the meters as well as some mercury contained in instruments that had
been slated for disposal — Evergreen Environmental. Attached to the manifest are
the Evergreen work order, the profile for the universal waste by AERC, and a
certificate of recycling for the mercury in the universal waste.
• The Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest (#PAG 356470) for disposal and recycling
of the contaminated cleanup debris as well as approx. 16 Ib of elemental mercury—
AERC.com, Inc. Some of the mercury (approx. 5 Ib) was recovered at the spill site
while the balance was collected at our facility and had been slated for disposal.
As the hazardous waste only just left the facility, it will be several weeks before I receive
a certificate of recycling for that waste.
Thank you for your guidance in dealing with this incident. If you have any questions
regarding this information, please call me at 209-858-6290.
Sincerely,
R094r B.
