PURPOSE: <br />A routine inspection was conducted at LIKA Corporation as part <br />of the San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Hazardous <br />Waste Generator Program. <br />II. REPRESENTATIVES PRESENT <br />LIKA Corporation: James G. Neal, Waste Treatment Supervisor. <br />Public Health Services of San Joaquin County: Kasey Foley, <br />Registered Environmental Health Specialist; Carol Oz, <br />Environmental Health Specialist. <br />III. OWNER/OPERATOR <br />LIKA Corporation is owned by Tandy Corporation which is <br />located at 1700 One Tandy Center, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. <br />Locally, LIKA Corporation resides at 1443 Navy Drive,Stockton. <br />The General Manager of the facility is George Lorente. <br />IV. BACKGROUND <br />LIKA Corporation was originally located at 2041 Navy Drive, <br />Stockton, and was in operation from 1970 through 1985. An <br />inspection of the 2041 Navy Drive facility by the Department <br />of Health services in 1985 revealed the facility to be <br />contaminated. In 1985, LIKA Corporation relocated their <br />operations to the facility at 1443 Navy Drive in Stockton. <br />In 1987, the Department of Health Services placed the 2041 <br />Navy Drive facility on the State Bond Expenditure Plan and <br />issued a "Remedial Action Order". <br />V. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF FACILITY <br />LIKA Corporation manufactures circuit boards for major <br />electronic companies, including Tandy Electronics. During the <br />manufacturing process, the circuit boards are covered in <br />copper and then laminated with light sensitive plastic (which <br />is exposed to UV light) to reveal the circuitry pattern.
