This is in accordance with the Memorandum of
Understanding signed March 2, 1988 with the California Department of Health Services, granting the
Health District authority to inspect and permit hazardous waste generators in San Joaquin County.
Health District Staff will examine hazardous waste handling, storage, treatment and disposal
procedures at generator facilities to assure compliance with the State Hazardous Waste Control Law
(California Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.5).
Under present State law, businesses generating five or more tons of hazardous waste per year are
subject to State hazardous waste generator fees. These fees are collected annually by the State
Board of Equalization. State law provides that State generator fees may be offset by fees paid to
local hazardous waste generator programs. On May 23, 1989, the San Joaquin Local Health District
Board of Trustees established local hazardous waste generator fees equal to those charged by the
State. This will allow the generator to pay the local generator fee to the Health District and deduct
this amount from the State Board of Equalization billing when received for the new calendar year.
We encourage the generator to pay the Local Health District feer for to paying the State Board of
Equalization billing to allow for this deduction.
NOTE: Save documentation of generator fees paid to the Local Health District as
payment verification for the State Board of Equalization.
The San Joaquin Local Health District Hazardous Waste Generator Fee Schedule for 1989 is as
follows:
Hazardous Waste Generated in
Tons (Based on H.W. manifested
in 1987)
>=
5 Tons
>=
25 Tons
>=
50 Tons
>=
250 Tons
>=500
Tons
> =
1000 Tons
> =
2000 Tons
<
25 Tons
<
50 Tons
<
250 Tons
<
500 Tons
<
1000 Tons
<
2000 Tons
Half Fees Billed on
July 1 and
1989 Nov 1
It $ 121.25
It $ 606.25
$ 1,212.50
$ 6,602.50
$12,125.00
$18,162.50
$24,250.00
Administration Clinical Services Environmental Health
488-3400 468-3830 468-3420
Air Pollution Community Services Laboratory
468-3470 468-3820 468-3460
Total H.W.
