Mr. Mike Pitta 2 - a August 21JUe
protect the pad integrity. The catch basin and connecting drain line will be cleaned with
potable water.
Confirmation soil samples will be collected at an approximate 20-foot spacing from the floor of
the remedial excavation area both at the surface and a depth of 1 foot at each sampling
location. Soil samples will also be collected from each sidewall beneath the concrete pad
housing the valve assembly. The soil samples will be analyzed for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX compounds), and five fuel oxygenates of methyl tertiary
butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), diisopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary amyl
methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) using EPA Method 8260B, and Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline, TPH-jet fuel, and TPH-diesel using EPA Method
8015M. KMEP will prepare a report documenting the confirmation soil sampling results and
recommend additional investigative or remedial work associated with the release, if warranted.
Regional Water Board staff concurs with the remedial and confirmation soil sampling activities
proposed in the Work Plan. Notice should be given to the Regional Water Board at least 48
hours before sampling commences to facilitate our observation of the activities. The report of
findings described in the Work Plan is due to this office by 15 September 2006.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may contact me at (916) 464-4719 or
mclardy(cDwater/boards.ca.gov.
Mark W.
