' Site Safety Plan
Job No. 4780200 Page 12
' VIII. CONTAMINANT ACTION LIMITS
This section discusses the levels at which additional actions to insure worker
safety are implemented. All individuals working in areas where concentrations
' of airborne contaminants exceed the Action Limits presented in Table 4 below,
must wear approved air purifying respirators equipped with organic vapor
cartridges. Should contaminant levels exceed respirator cartridge capacities,
' an upgrade to Level B PPE respiratory protection (Self-Contained Breathing
Apparatus [SCBAI) will be required. Tyvek suits must be worn by individuals
working within the Exclusion Zone when contact with contaminants is likely.
1
TABLE 4 - HAZARD EVALUATION GUIDELINES
ACTION
CONTAMINANT ROE PEL IDLH
LIMIT
Diesel C,IG,IH NE NE NE
' Gasoline C,IG,IH 300 ppm 3,000 ppm 150 ppm
Benzene C,IG,IH 1 ppm 3,000 ppm 0.5 ppm
Toluene C,IG,IH 100 ppm 3,000 ppm 50 ppm
Ethylbenzene C,IG,IH 100 ppm 2,000 ppm 50 ppm
' Xylenes C,IG,IH 100 ppm 1 ,000 ppm 50 ppm
ROE Route of Entry IG Ingestion
PEL CAL/OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit IH _ Inhalation
IDLH = Immed.
