Two additional soil borings were proposed, B1 and B3, but
were unable to be drilled due to access problems. The soil borings BI and B3 were proposed to
investigate the former 1,000 gallon diesel tank and dispenser area. Further investigation in these areas is
still required.
Soil contamination was evidenced by soil samples collected from B2 at 15 and 20 feet below ground
surface (bgs). Soil boring B2 was located to investigate contamination documented in the area of former
2,000 gallon gasoline tank. Soil contamination up to 693.560 ppm TPH-gasoline and 54.265 ppm benzene
was detected in B2 at 20 feet bgs. Seasonal high groundwater is recorded in the area of the site at 30 feet
bgs (1986 San Joaquin County Flood Control). Based on the "Environmental Fate Worksheets" in the
LUFT manual, the concentrations of contaminates detected pose a threat to groundwater. Therefore,
additional soil investigation and remediation is required. Furthermore, a groundwater investigation to
assess possible impact to groundwater quality is required.
Please submit by April 30, 1993 a work plan to further investigate soil and possible groundwater
contamination. If you have any questions concerning this site, please contact Mary Ways, REHS, of my
staff at (209) 468-0337.
JogiKhanna, M. M.P.H.
Health Office
W
Laurie A.
