STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Staff of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Central
Valley Water Board) has reviewed the Addendum #1 Deeper Groundwater Investigation
Results and Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan (Work Plan) for the subject site, located at
1819 South Argonaut Street in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California. The Work Plan and
the Addendum were prepared on your behalf by Geosyntec consultants, and were received by
the Central Valley Water Board on 4 May 2010.
Results of the deeper groundwater investigation and future work at the Site were discussed in
a meeting between Wilbur Ellis, Geosyntec and Central Valley Water Board staff on 14 April
2010. Based on the discussion, the Central Valley Water Board staff requested the following
to be included in the Work Plan Addendum:
1. Water levels in the proposed new deeper groundwater monitoring wells will be
measured on quarterly basis for first year.
2. A tentative plan and schedule for downgradient delineation of 1,2-DCP and 1,2,3 -TCP
in deeper groundwater.
3. Preliminary data will be collected and evaluated to assess future remedial options in the
deeper groundwater at the Site.
4. A schedule for implementing the field investigations and distributing a public notice to
the Site's downgradient neighbors along South Argonaut Street.
5. After evaluating the deeper groundwater flow direction and gradient, additional
downgradient CPT and groundwater sampling will be conducted to characterize the
lateral extent of 1,2-DCP and 1,2,3 -TCP in deeper groundwater. Tentative proposed
locations for the additional CPT investigations will be selected and submitted to the
Central Valley Water Board by 1 November 2010.
Geosyntec has also proposed to conduct a slug test to obtain an order -of -magnitude estimate
of aquifer hydraulic conductivity in the immediate vicinity of each tested well. Data would be
used for initial screening of potential remediation technologies.
Central Valley Water Board concurs with the general approach of work proposed in the Work
Plan and the Addendum.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Re
Recycled Paper
