We have reviewed the following reports
prepared by your consultant, GeoSyntec Consultants:
• 1 May 2003 Results of 1 st Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring (First QMR)
• 30 January 2003 2002 Annual Report and Results of Fourth Quarter 2002
• 31 October 2002 Results of 3rd Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring
• 1 August 2002 Results of 2"d Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring
The First QMR includes a work plan for downgradient delineation of groundwater pollutants and
proposes revisions to Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 5-01-818.
Downgradient Delineation
The work plan included in the First QMR proposes six off-site grab groundwater samples to
determine the extent of off-site migration of 1,2-dichloropropane (1,2-DCP), 1,2,3-trichloro-
propane (1,2,3 -TCP), and nitrate. GeoSyntec proposes to obtain the samples along South
Argonaut Way, north of the facility. This is downgradient of the highest concentrations of these
compounds that have been detected on-site. We concur with the sample locations, but there
remains a gap in the downgradient delineation between MW -4, MW -5, and South Argonaut
Way. In order to reduce the need for subsequent grab groundwater investigations, JTF should
add at least one grab groundwater sample near the northeast corner of the facility.
California Environmental Protection Agency
0 Recycled Paper
1 11c cllcrgy cnaiienge racing Cahlomia is real.
