Two large cardboard boxes of used air filters with lead were observed in the hazardous waste storage <br />area without labels. All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br />- the words "Hazardous Waste' <br />- name and address of generator <br />- hazardous properties (ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic) <br />- physical state (liquid, solid) <br />- composition (contents) <br />- accumulation start date <br />Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required information Since it <br />cannot be determined how long these wastes have been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste <br />hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD. This is a repeat violation, <br />Class II. <br />3120 <br />HSC 25201.16(h)(8) Records were not available for aerosol can puncturing training. A universal waste handler who <br />punctures aerosol cans shall ensure, through a training program utilizing the written aerosol can processing <br />procedures, that each employee is thoroughly familiar with the procedure for sorting and processing universal waste <br />aerosol cans, and proper waste handling and emergency procedures relevant to his or her responsibilities during <br />normal facility operations and emergencies. Immediately implement this training program for all employees responsible <br />for the puncturing of aerosol cans This is a minor violation. <br />Overall Inspection Comments: <br />Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br />documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br />paperwork, by December 3, 2014. <br />Consent to perform the inspection and collect samples was given by Beverly Kennedy, Director of Environmental <br />Health and Safety. <br />This facility generated 219.70 tons of waste in the last calendar year (Jan-Dec 2013). <br />Please be aware as of January 1, 2013, all businesses are required to submit all hazardous materials information <br />online to the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov.
