Page 2
. EXHIBIT 1 •
POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCB'S)
/. , Section C - Safety
No. 53A
Subject PCB Policy
IV. WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A LEAK OR SPILL? - Continued
D. Avoid contact with the PCB liquid and instruct any personnel
who have been in contact with the liquid to remain at the
site until the S.S.S. Manager or other management personnel
arrive. They shall arrange for PCB removal from the exposed
employees.
V. WHO-KAY CLEAN PCB SPILLS?
Ong authorized employees who have been trained in the proper
decontamination procedures are allowed to work on cleanup spills.
If you are not designated as a "PCB Spill Employee" , DO NOT attempt
to clean any spills.
VI . ARE PCB LEAKS REPORTED TO GOVERNMENT AGENCIES?
Yes, we are required to report leaks or spills that could
contaminate food products or ground water systems to various
state and federal agencies. There are several penalties for
failure to do so.
VII . IF A LEAK OR SPILL SHOULD OCCUR, IS THERE REASON TO PANIC?
No. . .However, we are to be concerned. As discussed, we must
take immediate action to report and contain any PCB leakage to
prevent contamination to the food product. We must also arrange
for first aid or medical treatment for any employee who came
into contact with the PCB substance. Proper planning, education
and appropriate action will negate fear and prevent panic.
JTT/lm
4-23-32
