November 11, 2010
DISCUSSION:
REPORTING A SPILL, EMERGENCY NUMBERS, EMERGENCY COORDINATORS
HOW TO PROPERLY HANDLE A SPILL, SPILL KIT LOCATION AND CONTENTS
REPLACING CONTENTS, PROPER HANDLING OF ABSORBANT, PROPER
LABELING OF ABSORBANT.
1. Bob and I have named Emergency Coordinators, our telephone numbers have
Been posted by each phone (show copy of form # EH-22-06-SQGER
2. We have made a spill kit; it is located in the container next to the waste oil drum.
It contains: 1 bag of absorbent, broom, shovel/waste pan, 2 pair of gloves, and 2
Safety glasses, trash bags. The kit is labeled with the contents. On the label
there is a section for the inspection of the kit, to be performed on a monthly
basis. If you are assigned to inspect the kit, you will date and initial in the correct
space provided on the label.
3. When a spill occurs, you are to contain it immediately with the absorbent
provided; you will put proper safety equipment on. And you must notify Bob or
Myself immediately. After the absorbent has absorbed the spill, sweep up, and
dispose of the waste in the correct drum, if it is the first waste to be placed in the
drum then the accumulation date must reflect the date. Clean up must be
immediate. Containment must be immediate so it does not spread. For any
reason the spill is out of control and we are not equipped to handle. (Le. fire has
Taken place after the spill) Emergency numbers are posted near each phone,
CALL 911 first, and then call Bob or myself.
4. The absorbent drum must be labeled at all times, a monthly safety inspection will
include all waste oil drums and record will be kept. But if you notice the label is
missing, and or illegible please notify Bob or myself.
