If I understand it
correctly, storm water has come into contact with their waste water. Once storm water
comes into contact with waste water it becomes waste water that requires and NPDES permit
to discharge. Since this is a rather some piece of the program I am not sure who would
have time to take it on. Although, I have forwarded the info to our NPDES permit and will
follow up with you with any additional information. After further review of the low
threat discharge permit, they would not qualify.
It appears the company has put baker tanks onsite to collect the ponded water and plan to
treat then discharge to an irrigation ditch? If this is correct, how do they plan to
treat the water? (sand filter) Will they sample the water before discharge to surface
waters?
As far as the waste water entering the wells, I am still working on that.
Please clarify that my information is correct with what is going on with the site.
Thanks
Robert Ditto, CPESC, CPSWQ
Environmental Scientist
I
