0 0 <br />Procedures for groundwater contamination incident: <br />'Note: Groundwater contamination may result from any release that is not completely <br />contained in a secondary containment system or when the secondary <br />containment system is cracked, damaged, leaking, etc. in any way. <br />1. In the event of suspected groundwater contamination, immediately report it to an <br />emergency coordinator, and inform other employees nearby to move away from <br />the hazard area. <br />2. Attempt to isolate and restrict work activities in the affected area so as to reduce <br />the possibility of further contamination. <br />3. An emergency coordinator will then notify the owner or operator of the facility. <br />4. The owner or operator of the facility will conduct a preliminary site assessment to <br />determine the existence, source, nature, and extent of the release. <br />5. If contamination is found, a more detailed environmental investigation must be <br />conducted and the appropriate steps taken to notify the local and/or state health <br />department. <br />6. If possible the emergency coordinators should perform the following activities: <br />A. Identify hazardous materials involved so that appropriate corrective action <br />can be taken. <br />B. Remove sources of ignition. <br />C.
