Water Based Inks— If water based inks cannot be reused, blended into another color, or return <br /> j to the original vendor for credit, collect all water based waste inks in an appropriate sized <br /> I <br /> container and label accordingly (Refer to labeling section of the Heritage Waste Handling <br /> Manual available online on .Heritage website). Water based waste inks are considered and <br /> handled as`non-hazardous waste. Heritage Environmental can handle this waste stream along <br /> ,with our other approved solid waste management contractors — Clean Harbors, Waste <br /> Management, BFI/Allied, Republic Services, Environmental Restoration and/or Summit <br /> Environmental. Processable Aerosol Cans—"All" aerosol cans, when depleted due to being completely empty <br /> can be disposed in normal trash. However many aerosol cans are thrown away because they <br /> have a broken nozzle or are plugged. Plants have the option to collect all used/spent aerosol. <br /> can in an appropriate sized'container (usually a 30 or 55 gallon drum) and label as a hazardous <br /> 1 waste — normally due to flammable propellants. Heritage can then dispose.of all the collected <br /> aerosols as a hazardous waste. The facility can elect to collect all the used/spent aerosol can <br /> and on a regular basis go through the collection and one or two designated person determine <br /> which aerosol are truly empty (can be thrown into trash) and which ones are not empty and <br /> have to be disposed of as hazardous waste. Keep all used/spent aerosol cans in a plant out of <br /> the trash and place in the hazardous waste aerosol can collection container. Used/spent aerosol <br /> cans. may be managed as a universal waste stream in Colorado. Label your waste container <br /> appropriately (Refer to labeling section of the Heritage Waste Handling Manual available i <br /> online on Heritage website). Paint Cans —If there are paint cans/containers (non-aerosol) that contain unusable/residual <br /> waste paint, and previously contained hazardous materials, the cans/containers need to be <br /> managed as hazardous waste. Place them in an appropriate waste container and label <br /> accordingly (Refer to labeling section of the Heritage Waste Handling Manual available online <br /> on Heritage website). Contact your CEM or your Heritage Customer Service Representative <br /> for further guidance and assistance. <br /> 9. Emmy Paint Cans — Truly empty paint cans/containers (non-aerosol) can be managed as a <br /> non-hazardous solid waste stream — they-can be put into normal trash providing that there are <br /> no trash-handling prohibition regarding empty, nonhazardous paint containers. Check with the <br /> local trash hauler to determine. Contact your CEM for further guidance and assistance, <br /> especially in California. <br /> 10. Empty Poly Drums/Containers — To the maximum extent possible, manufacturing sites <br /> should purchase raw materials in returnable containers or in bulk-to reduce and/or eliminate the , <br /> need to dispose of empty containers. Before paying Heritage to dispose of empty containers, <br /> consider alternative disposal or uses, such as trash containers, shop rags/towels containers, etc. <br /> Containers must be empty and free of any liquids before disposal. Try to crush the container or <br /> cut it up when putting into a trash dumpster or compactor. Heritage should be your last resort <br /> for disposal of any non-hazardous waste.
