DESCRIPTION OF BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES <br /> GOOD HOUSEKEEPING —GH <br /> X Chemical storage is located in areas of the plant that are protected from rainfall as much as <br /> practical. <br /> X All work areas are well organized and properly maintained. <br /> X Chemical storage areas shall be kept clean and floors swept. <br /> X All containers areproperly_labeled as to their contents and other pertinent information. <br /> X Appropriate personnel are to receive on-going training in safety and proper procedures for <br /> mans ing chemicals used in the process and maintenance support functions of manufacturing. <br /> X No chemical is to be disposed of by flushing it down the drain. <br /> X Routine cleanup operations are scheduled for each inventoried area. <br /> X Empty open-top containers shall not be stored outside without being properly protected from the <br /> rain. <br /> X All machinery and equipment storage or maintenance activities performed near drains or <br /> outside a building roof are managed in such a way as to avoid spills into floor drains or onto the <br /> ground. <br /> X All spills are properly contained on-site, cleaned-up and properly disposed according to <br /> a ro riate regulations governing the spilled materials. <br /> Other <br /> PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE—PM <br /> X EMT members shall conduct and record regular inspections of stormwater management device <br /> and all facility operations to detect faulty equipment. <br /> X Material storage containers, tanks, and drums shall be checked for signs of deterioration and <br /> leakage. <br /> X All noted problems will be corrected immediately. <br /> X Maintenance of complete records on inspections, equipment, ands stems. <br /> X Perform preventive maintenance on storage tanks, valves, pi4Mps, pipes, and other equipment. <br /> X Inspection and testing of facility equipment and systems to uncover conditions that could cause <br /> breakdowns or failures resulting in a discharge to stormwater. <br /> X Appropriate and timely adjustment, repair, or replacement of storage tanks, valves, pumps, <br /> pipes and other equipment. <br /> X Identification of equipment, s stem, and areas that should be inspected <br /> Other <br /> Amended 09/07/06 <br />
