Musco
August 9, 2007
Michelle Henry
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Musco Fancily Olive Company- Site Inspection of July 13, 2007
Dear Ms. Henry,
The site inspection of July 13, 2007 a number of items that needed to be addressed.
The purpose of this letter is to document the corrective actions that we have done to
address the items.
Item number 10 requires Musco to handle metal shavings and grindings to be handled
as hazardous waste. Effective immediately after the inspection, Musco has begun
handling metal grindings as hazardous waste, collecting all the dust in properly
labeled containers for disposal by Evergreen Environmental, Inc.
Item number 12 identified used absorbent that was not picked up and disposed of in a
timely manner. All of the absorbent has been picked up and disposed of properly. To
address this, and other, operational items noted in the inspection, Musco has
implemented a formalized annual hazardous materials and waste training program.
All workers who come into, or may come into, contact with hazardous waste will
now be trained as to the proper handling and disposal procedures for all hazardous
waste.
Item number 16 identified liquid inside secondary containment structures. Musco has
removed all this liquid, properly stored the liquid, then it was removed from the site
by Evergreen Environmental, Inc.
Item number 22 and 88 identified inadequacies in our labeling of hazardous waste
storage containers and that some containers holding hazardous waste were open. All
containers are now labeled properly and stored closed, and these issues are also
addressed in the training program discussed above.
Item number 33 addressed the handling of used oil filters. Evergreen Environmental,
Inc. has supplied us with the proper containers for disposal of used oil filters, and will
Musco FAMILY OLIVE CO. 17950 VIA NICOLO,TRACY,CA 95377 0209-836-4600 /=209-8360518 u d WWW.OLIVES.COM
