The tank is double
walled and the space between the tanks is filled with antifreeze mixture. Lost or gain in
the antifreeze level will sound a local alarm. The underground portion of the piping
system is double walled with reservoir sensors along the pipe route with a monitor in the
Maintenance building with at local alarm. if a leak is detected either in the tank or
underground piping the local alarm will sound.
The alarm monitor is checked at least once each shift and it's condition is logged in the
Engineer's log book. If there is an alarm sounding, the maintenance engineer will notify
the Chief Engineer.
The monitoring system will be tested annually by a third party tester and the results
forwarded to the County Health Services Environmental Health Division.
