09
ST. JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER
MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
DIESEL TANK MONITORING PLAN
An OC brand double walled fiberglass 20,000 gallon diesel tank has
been installed at out new utility plant. The tank has a brine
antifreeze solution between the two tank walls and a reservoir at
the top of the tank where the brine level is measured to detect
any fuel leaks. All the piping from the diesel tank is double
walled fiberglass with six piping sump sensors located at various
locations throughout the piping system, to detect any leaks. An
electronic control panel, Model SB0011B, provides continuous
monitoring of the tank and piping.
If a leak is detected, a bell will sound in the new utility plant
boiler room and the telephone operator will be notified by an
automatic telephone dialer. Also a message will appear on the
screen of our maintenance management computer, notifying the watch
engineer. The monitoring sensor circuits are "intrinsically
safe".
There is a test button on the electronic control panel that we will
press twice a day and the results will be logged by the watch
%ft, engineer in the watch engineers log book.
