ContainmeA By Design
DENIED
The O/C Tanks Double -Wall
Tank: Engineered for
Maximum Safety
Fiberglas® tanks have a
reputation for safe containment.
They have been proven in
over 150,000 installations over
the past 20 years.
Some
now specifying underground
storage systems with second-
ary containment for maximum
protection of their natural under-
ground water supplies against
petroleum contamination.
After extensive development
and testing, O/C Tanks has
engineered an integrated
double-wall tank with a "built-
in" continuous leak monitoring
system for assurance of safe
petroleum containment.
Award for Achievement in
Product Safety
Our double-wall tank design
and monitoring system is so
unique, it earned the National
Safety Council Annual Award
for Achievement in Product
Safety in 1985.
High Strength Construction
1701"FlbMilas double-wall tank
is not just another tank within
a tank. Special high strength
Fiberglas ribs bond the inner
and outer tank walls together
to form a unique structural
system.
360 -Degree Secondary
Containment
Although some tank manufac-
turers cut corners and exclude
secondary containment around
the top of the tank, all Fiberglas
double-wall tanks provide full
3600 secondary containment
of the primary tank. "Partial"
double-wall tanks are more
susceptible to leaks compared
to tanks which offer complete
secondary containment. The
American Petroleum Institute
(API), in a 1981 study of leaking
tanks, confirmedthat 7% of tank
leaks occur in the upper quad-
rant of an underground tank.
Rustproof—Inside and Out
And of course, Fiberglas tanks
are rustproof, inside and out,
on all four surfaces of the
inner and outer tank.
Most corrosion protected steel
double-wall tanks are still
vulnerable to rust. Although
there is corrosion protection
on the tank's exterior surface,
few double-wall tanks have
internal rust protection on the
three bare steel interior sur-
faces. A recent survey of 1,900
leaking steel tanks revealed
that 29% had perforations due
to internal corrosion.
Remember, steel can rust.
Fiberglas® never will!
Continuous Precision Tank
Testing
All of the Fiberglas tanks in
this catalog feature a "built-
in" Hydrostatic Tank Monitor.
O/C Tanks recommends this
monitoring method because of
its superior leak detection
capability.
The Hydrostatic Tank Monitor
can also serve the dual pur-
pose of a precision tank test.
This device has been indepen-
dently tested and validated to
detect leaks as small as 0.05
gallons per hour; this exceeds
the leak detection criteria of
0.1 gallons per hour established
by the federal EPA for preci-
sion testing equipment.
And when it comes to leak
detection and precision tank
testing, this system is the best
because it's continuously
monitoring the complete inner
and outer tank!
Our double-wall tank also has
the design flexibility to accom-
modate other leak monitoring
systems. If another type of
tank monitor is specified
initially, the Hydrostatic Moni-
tor can still be activated at a
future date.
