NWO
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental , Inc .
05 October 2012
AGE Project No. 10-1821
Mr. Garrett Backus
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Street
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject: Soil Sample Collection Work Plan - Primary Backup Boiler Line
ST. JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER
Underground Storage Tank Line Abandonment
1909 Cemetery Lane, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Backus:
At the request of St. Joseph's Medical Center/Dignity Health, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Soil Sample Collection Work Plan -
Primary Backup Boiler Line to complete the abandonment of a southern portion of the
diesel underground storage tank (UST) line at 1909 Cemetery Lane, Stockton, California
(facility).
BACKGROUND/SCOPE OF WORK
This work plan presents a scope of work to investigate and evaluate soil beneath the UST
piping to be abandoned in-place. The portion of the UST system line to be
decommissioned is located underground from the northern edge of the main hospital
structure(driveway loading dock)and continues north underthe driveway, continuing under
McCloud Avenue and further north through the eastern edge of the main parking lot for the
facility and, finally, to the UST at the main boiler plant. It is our understanding that the line
is double-walled fiberglass.
Elite IV Contractors (Elite) shall purge, rinse and fill the line prior to sample collection.
Furthermore, the above-ground portion of the line (steel) will be isolated with valves and
capped by Elite.
AGE proposes to collect regularly spaced soil samples from beneath the piping within the
driveway area, parking and road way, between the former generator room and the laundry
area loading ramp. AGE anticipates thirty-two (32) separate locations for soil sampling.
837 Shaw Road• Stockton,CA 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006•Fax(209)467-1 1 18
