..i <br /> Personal Protective Equipment <br /> All of the personal protective equipment(PPE)to be used on this site has been selected <br /> according to the site characterization and analysis,job tasks, site hazards, intended use <br /> and duration of potential employee exposure. Maintenance and storage of PPE, <br /> decontamination, donning procedures, inspection and monitoring of effectiveness and <br /> limitation are outlined in this section. <br /> General <br /> 1. Approved ear protection shall be worn in areas designated by signs, or when <br /> directed to do so by a supervisor. The employee shall be responsible for the care <br /> and cleaning of such device. <br /> 2. Approved eye protection shall be worn when chipping, grinding, and blowing <br /> down machinery with compressed air, welding,cutting or handling dangerous <br /> chemicals. <br /> 3. Shoes that do not cover the entire foot shall not be wom. Hard plastic soles <br /> should not be used. Rubber boots or soles will be worn when the feet are exposed <br /> to water, chemicals, or cleaning solutions. <br /> 4. Gloves shall be wom when the hands are exposed to splinters, sharp edges,bums <br /> or hazardous substances. Gloves shall not be wom while operating machinery, <br /> unless directed by a supervisor for sanitation purposes. <br /> 5. Body protection, including aprons,raincoats, etc., shall be wom when directed by <br /> the supervisor. <br /> 6. Approved head protection shall be worn when an employee is subject to flying or <br /> falling objects. <br /> 7. Employees must use all personal protective equipment issued to them, or face <br /> disciplinary action. <br /> 15 <br />
