Underground Storage Tank Removal Report Page 5
320 W. CENTER STREET March 25, 2011
WKA No. 9041.01P
conservative screening tool to identify chemically impacted conditions that could pose a
potential threat to groundwater. In general terms, chemical concentrations that are below the
established ESLs are less likely to pose a significant, long-term (chronic) threat to human health
and the environment. The TPHd that was reported in the composite soil sample (S-4-STK)
colleted from over excavation stockpile was the only sample to have any continuants detected
above residential ESLs. The stockpile was removed and disposed of at a Class II landfill.
Metal concentrations reported in the soil samples were below corresponding residential ESLs
and conclude to be within the typical range of background metals concentrations in soil for the
region.
Remaining subsurface conditions at the former UST indicate that the petroleum impacted soil
that could present a potential threat to human health and the environment has been removed by
the excavation activity. Based on our field observations during UST removal activities, along
with subsequent laboratory analytical results. WKA concludes there is no evidence of significant
remaining petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil from the former 2,000-gallon UST.
6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the above information, WKA recommends that SJCEHD provide their concurrence that
adequate assessment of former UST has been completed and that a No Further Action
determination should be issued.
7.0 LIMITATIONS
The statements and conclusions in this report me based upon the scope of work described above
` and on observations made on the dates of our fieldwork. The work was performed using a
degree of skill consistent with that of competent environmental consulting firms performing
similar work in the area. No recommendation is made as to the suitability of the property for any
purpose. The results of our investigation do not preclude the possibility that materials currently,
or in the future, defined as hazardous are present on the property. This report is applicable only
to the investigated property and should not be used for any other property. No warranty is
expressed or implied.
