ALS 1111111111111111110L
MMUMAmT
Due to the minimal exposure potential of the contamination, only moderate hazards
exist. We will minimize the risk impacts of workers and the public by the use of personal
protective equipment and barricades such as delineators, caution tape, and fencing.
111.6 Ezmb4 mmm IINam/TYmt/mA IrLv
A. AIR EXPOSURE MONITORING:
Breathing air analysis measuring the airborne concentrations shall be performed
when significant surface disturbances are involved. Monitoring shall take place with
direct reading instruments and detector tubes shall be used if necessary. The Site
Safety Officer will determine if and when downwind perimeter monitoring is
needed. Action level for VOC's will be set at 300 ppm for level "C" respiratory
equipment and light chemical clothing.
B. NOISE EXPOSURE MONITORING:
A potential for elevated noise exposure exists when working around heavy
equipment. Hearing protection is always required under these conditions.
R.Y lltBi A16 IP"VVICT/T6 B®U/PHMMIT
A. SAFETY EQUIPMENT TO BE USED BY FIELD WORKERS (hi-lited):
Work boots, hard hat, vinyl inner gloves, outer gloves (nitrile, leather, rubber),
safety glasses, hearing protection, tyvek suits (standard, polyethylene, saranex),
fire retardant clothing.
Air -purifying respirator and appropriate cartridges.
Full body harness, shock absorbing lanyard, retractable life -line, emergency
breathing air, orange vest. • if warranted
B. LEVELS OF PROTECTION:
Explanation - Protective equipment selected is based on the type of contaminants,
their concentrations, and the routes of entry. 300 ppm VOC's is the action level from
"D" to "C'
W.a 'Won" mamma
The site shall be controlled to reduce the possibility of translocation of the contaminants
by personnel/equipment and dangerous levels of airborne dust, vapors, etc. This shall be
accomplished by setting up physical barriers based upon the amount of space needed
to perform the work and the air monitoring results.
