03-30-1998 09:21AM FROM SEMCO TO 4640138 P.02
March
Robert
San Ito
304 Ea
Stocktc
Re: 3C
SEMCO
1217 SOUTH 7'rr STREET
MODESTO, CALIFORNIA 95351
(209) 524-9653 FAX (209) 5240503
1998
ain County public Health Department
Weber Avenue
CA 95202
South Corral Hollow Road, Tracy, California
Subject: I Proposal for Utilizing Former Underground Storage Tanks
Dear Mui McClellon
This Ic#' is intended as a request for approval to utilize the former underground storage tanks (USTs) removed
under your supervision on March 18, 1998.
The referenced property is pending commercial improvements within the 1998 calendar year. In the absence of
supplied municipal water to the property, the burden to provide stored water for the purpose of fire suppression is
on the operty owner and, or potential developer. Although recendy the proposed Tracy Hills Development
received approval, the undergruuDd utilities (specifically water for fire suppression) appears to be a minimum of
three to ' r years from completion. To redevelop the subject commercial property, the property owner will
therefore be required to supply adequate on-site water storage for fire suppression. On behalf of the property
owner, Semco purposes to reuse the (8) eight 12,000 gallon former USTs to supply storage of 96,000 gallons of
non-pota,ble water storage to mect this requirement.
It is our roposal that the process for reuse of the subject (8) eight 12,000 gallon former USTs be as follows:
Certification of each tank as "clean" by a qualified Marine Chemist, or Certified h dustrial Hygmist,
l Submit engineered plans and specifications for approval of all applicable permits.
Lwtallabon of the engineered fire suppression water stozagc system.
'prank ybu in advance for your consideration of our proposal. I will make myself available to answer any
questior or eoncems your department may have regarding this matter. I can be reached at (209) 524-9653.
Doug
TOTAL P.02
