SAMPLE ANALYSIS <br /> r <br /> A total of three UST soil samples, four piping/dispenser soil samples and three soil stockpile <br /> samples were collected and analyzed for: <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) in accordance with EPA Method <br /> 8015m; <br /> r <br /> • Volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes; BTE&X) in <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8260. <br /> The sample collected from beneath the waste oil UST and the sample collected from the stockpiled <br /> soil removed from the waste oil UST area were also analyzed for: <br /> r <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8260; <br /> ` • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as motor oil (TPH-mo) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015m; <br /> • Lead, nickel, zinc, chromium and cadmium in accordance with EPA Method 6010 and <br /> chromium VI in accordance with EPA Method 7196; <br /> .. • Volatile organic compounds in accordance with EPA Method 8240; and <br /> • PCBs in accordance with EPA Method 8080. <br /> r <br /> 3.5. PRODUCT PIPING ABANDONMENT <br /> r <br /> On 19 March 1999,the product piping between the former diesel UST and dispenser was abandoned <br /> r by filling with neat cement. The vertical piping at the dispenser was then removed. <br /> L 3.6. EXCAVATION BACKFILLING PROCEDURES <br /> On 28 September 1998,the UST excavation was backfilled with pea gravel to approximately one <br /> r foot bsg. Approximately six inches of road base was then placed in the excavation. A six-inch <br /> asphalt surface was then installed to match the surrounding surface.
