AIRPORT WAY, STOCKTON <br />The following information is provided to the San Joaquin County Department of <br />Environmental Health to presentthe proceduresthat will be used following excavation <br />and removal of an existing 1,000 gallon diesel tank located at the above referenced <br />site. During excavation, a flame ionization detector will be used to monitor the <br />excavation working area for the presence of hydrocarbon vapors for health and safety <br />screening purposes. Following excavation and removal of the tank, fill material will <br />be excavated from the base of the excavation to expose native soil. In accordance <br />with the San Joaquin County guidelines, based on the size of the tank, two soil <br />samples will be collected from the native soil within 2 to 4 feet beneath the bottom <br />of the tank pit. Two samples will be taken from the remote fill line, approximately 1 <br />sample every 20 feet. 1 sample will be taken from the product line nearest the <br />building and 1 sample will be taken from the stockpile. The soil samples will be <br />collected by a representative of Western Environmental Science and Technology. <br />DOHS certification number 1346. <br />An onsite excavator will be used to collect the samples from the bottom of the <br />excavation. All samples will be placed into a stainless steel sample liner, labeled and <br />stored in a cooler with ice for subsequent laboratory analysis. <br />Approved chain -of -custody procedures, including sample labeling, preservation and <br />handling protocols will be followed for proper identification and tracking of the <br />samples. The soil sample will be analyzed by Western Environmental Science and <br />Technology, a California certified analytical laboratory for the following compounds: <br />TPH as Diesel, Motor Oil & BTEX - EPA method 8015M,8020 (602) <br />License No 510034 <br />
