AIRPORT WAY, STOCKTON
The following information is provided to the San Joaquin County Department of
Environmental Health to presentthe proceduresthat will be used following excavation
and removal of an existing 1,000 gallon diesel tank located at the above referenced
site. During excavation, a flame ionization detector will be used to monitor the
excavation working area for the presence of hydrocarbon vapors for health and safety
screening purposes. Following excavation and removal of the tank, fill material will
be excavated from the base of the excavation to expose native soil. In accordance
with the San Joaquin County guidelines, based on the size of the tank, two soil
samples will be collected from the native soil within 2 to 4 feet beneath the bottom
of the tank pit. Two samples will be taken from the remote fill line, approximately 1
sample every 20 feet. 1 sample will be taken from the product line nearest the
building and 1 sample will be taken from the stockpile. The soil samples will be
collected by a representative of Western Environmental Science and Technology.
DOHS certification number 1346.
An onsite excavator will be used to collect the samples from the bottom of the
excavation. All samples will be placed into a stainless steel sample liner, labeled and
stored in a cooler with ice for subsequent laboratory analysis.
Approved chain -of -custody procedures, including sample labeling, preservation and
handling protocols will be followed for proper identification and tracking of the
samples. The soil sample will be analyzed by Western Environmental Science and
Technology, a California certified analytical laboratory for the following compounds:
TPH as Diesel, Motor Oil & BTEX - EPA method 8015M,8020 (602)
License No 510034
