PERMIT/SERVICES
H. B. Swearingen
Parsons of California
P.O. Box 6189
Stockton, CA 95106
Re: Parsons of California
Soil Sampling Analysis
Job No. 86-195
Dear Mr. Swearingen,
This letter is the brief description, which you requested on 7 May, of
the analytical results from the 18 April soil sampling. The soil samples were
collected from approximately 2-3 feet beneath the gasoline tank excavation at
Parsons of California, South Airport Way, Stockton, California. Soil sample A
from below the fill pipe end of the tank was analyzed for petroleum
hydrocarbons, specifically benzene, toluene, xylenes and total hydrocarbons,
using a gas chromatograph. Soil sample B from below the middle of the tank
was held and not analyzed. Soil sample A analytic results transmitted to you
by Nick Bokides of Precision Industries were reported as follows:
Total Hydrocarbons < 10.0 mg/kg
Benzene < 0.5 mg/kg
Toluene < 0.5 mg/kg
Total Xylenes < 1.0 mg/kg
These results indicate that soil sample A was below detection for the
compounds analyzed.
For underground tank investigations the City of Stockton refers to
guidelines set forth in Appendix 4: Water Quality Objectives and Hazardous and
Designated Levels for Chemical Constituents, July 1985, authored by John
Marshak of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) in
Sacramento. These guidelines were not written for the initial testing step(s)
for underground tanks as performed for your site, but for guidance once a
problem is confirmed. The guidelines are for clean-up purposes only.
A Dioision of Aguarierra Associa s Incorporated
