23 October 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0348
Following backfilling and compaction activities, a representative from Arrowhead Consultants (AC)
performed compaction testing from the north, south, east and west sections of the former excavation
limits. Soil samples were placed in a container and transported to AC for analysis of dry density,
moisture content and percent compaction. The laboratory report (AC Report No. 1906) is presented
in Appendix C. The analytical results are summarized in Table 2 - Analytical Results of Field
Compaction Test.
2.4. RESURFACING
On 03 October 1997, representatives of Lodi Paving and Grading resurfaced the former excavation
limits with an asphaltic surface from 7 inches bsg to surface grade.
3.0. FINDINGS/CONCLUSIONS
Based upon field and lab data collected during field activities, we have the following comments for
your consideration:
• TPH-O and oil and grease were detected in the composite sample collected from the
stockpiled soil at concentrations of 34 and 76 parts per million (ppm), respectively. These
concentrations are generally below levels of regulatory concern.
• Low concentrations of total lead were detected in a soil sample collected from beneath the
former UST location. However, the detected concentration of lead is well below the
California Title 22 Hazardous Waste Regulatory Criteria of 1,000 mg/kg.
• The excavation area was backfilled with native soil and compacted in 12 inch lifts.
Furthermore, a compaction test was performed and indicated a minimum of 90 percent
compaction at 26 inches bsg and 85 percent compaction for the first 55 inches bsg.
• No hydrocarbons were detected in the soil sample collected beneath the former UST.
• No evidence of additional USTs were found in the investigated area.
4.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of data
Advanced GeoEnvironmentA Inc.
