1.4 Tank Soil Investigation <br /> Upon arrival of the regulatory representatives, the tank is lifted from the excavation and _ <br /> set on a smooth ground, free of rocks and foreign objects and chocked. The tank and <br /> surrounding excavation are then visually inspected for signs of leakage. Upon excavation <br /> of soil, and compliance to the Tri-Regional Guidelines a determination is made to have a <br /> laboratory analysis of the soil. Soil sampling is completed in accordance with the attached _ <br /> soil sampling protocol. If impacted soil is encountered during excavation, a preliminary <br /> site assessment will be recommended. <br /> 1.5 Tank Transport and Disposal <br /> Once the tank has been inspected, it will be placed on a truck for transport. The truck will <br /> be certified to carry hazardous materials if required. The tank will be transported under <br /> manifest to State certified disposal facility where the tank will be properly recycled. <br /> 1.6 Backfill <br /> When the excavation is determined clean or upon approval from the regulatory agency, it <br /> will be backfilled and compacted per the specifications or direction of the engineer. <br /> Resurfacing is scheduled immediately to restore the site to original conditions or may be <br /> altered per the owners discretion. — <br /> In the event of the site being impacted, the excavation is secured and barricaded. Street <br /> plates are delivered for temporary covering of excavations in high traffic areas. The <br /> impacted soil is isolated, covered with visquene, and barricaded. <br /> 1.7 Contingency Plan — <br /> If during the tank removal it is determined that the site is impacted, a site <br /> investigation/remediation program will be developed upon the agreement of compensation <br /> between the client and GHH and shall be prepared in accordance with the current <br /> guidelines developed by Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board or local <br /> implementing agency(LIA). <br /> During excavation, any impacted material will be protected by placing it on and covering <br /> with an impermeable material. Additionally, if practical, the excavation will be covered <br /> with either plywood or traffic plates depending on exposure. If the site has a high <br /> exposure risk, the excavation will also be temporarily fenced. <br /> The site will usually be left open for approximately three weeks, possibly longer, if lab <br /> analysis is required. If it is necessary, the lab results can be obtained sooner to minimize <br /> the exposure risk depending on the client's concerns. <br />
