(GHH) has been retained by the US Postal Service to retrofit one waste
oil underground storage tanks (USTs) and remove two USTs at the subject site, as shown on
Figures 1 and 2. The retrofit work, which is being completed under a separate permit will include
the installation of a high level alarm probe in the 1,000-gallon waste oil tank with the control
panel mounted inside the facilities building adjacent to the existing Veeder-Root Guardian Control
Panel. The tank removal work will include both the 12,000-gallon unleaded gasoline and diesel
tanks, as shown on Figure 2.
The existing fuel piping and dispensers will be removed and disposed of. When the piping and
tanks are removed URS Greiner of San Francisco will collect soil samples and arrange sampling in
accordance with County guidelines. Backfill and paving will proceed as outlined in our
workplan.
GHH has enclosed the three completed removal permit applications with a check in the amount of
$468.00; site plans; and a site specific health and safety plan. GHH anticipates starting the work
approximately 10 days after receipt of permits. We would appreciate any assistance in expediting
the review and approval process so we can complete this project.
