".B.M.E. CORPORATION
A Petroleum Testing and Monitoring Co. `
3814 Auburn Blvd., Suite 62
Sacramento,CA 95821
(916) 972.9010
Pacific Bell
7644 N. Ashley Lane
Stockton , CA
Detection of Leaks in Secondary System
The 1,500-gallon Joor Plasteel double-wall tank has a secondary
containment capable of containing 110% of the primary container volume.
The tank when installed will have a slope of 1/8" per foot (minimum).
A Ronan Model LS-3 liquid sensor will be located at the bottom of the
secondary containment (annular space) on the deeper end. In the event of
a leak, liquid will run down the bottom of the secondary container to be
detected by the sensor.
The sensor in the presence of a liquid will cause the Ronan Model
X76-S Leak Detector to activate an on-site audible alarm and simultaneously
telephone an alarm to a Pacific Bell monitoring center. The secondary
containment will hold the leaked liquid until recovery action can be taken.
Recovery will be accomplished using suction pump with access to secondary
containment provided by annular space fill pipe and fill box.
Notes concerning Joor double-wall tank manway (sump). The 1,500
gallon Joor Plasteel double-wall tank as ordered will have a 30V" I.D.
manway collar welded on the top of the tank. LBME Corp. will extend the
manway to the manhole cover using a 30" I.D. red thread fiberglass pipe
cut to fit, its joint sealed by fiberglass and epoxy. The manhole cover
will be watertight thus creating a waterproof manway (sump) environment.
The 3/4" black iron fuel return and fuel suction lines inside a single
3" fiberglass reduced pipe leave the manway with an upward slope of 1/8"
per foot (minimum) towards the building. If either fuel return or fuel
suction line develops a leak, the fuel will collect and run down secondary
fiberglass pipe to manway. The liquid will be detected by a Ronan Model
LS-3 liquid sensor placed at bottom of manway (sump) and activate alarms.
DEC 3 .
