I. INTRODUCTION <br /> a. Purpose <br /> The primary purpose of this Site Health and Safety Plan is to provide Aronson Engineering field personnel with an <br /> understanding of the potential chemical and physical hazards that exist or may arise while the tasks of this soil <br /> remediation project are being performed. Secondarily,this information defines the safety precautions necessary to <br /> respond to such hazards. <br /> A copy of this site health and safety plan will be on site at all times. An additional copy will be kept and <br /> transported along with any injured worker to the medical facility for use by medical staff. <br /> b. Objective <br /> The objective of this health and safety plan is to ensure the safety of all field personnel, and the surrounding <br /> community. Accordingly, all personnel assigned to this project will read and sign the acknowledged statement at <br /> the end of this plan,to certify that they have read, understand and will abide by the health and safety plan. <br /> c. Tailgate Meetings <br /> A tailgate meeting will be conducted by the job superintendent/site safety officer.No work will be <br /> performed before this meeting has taken place. The tailgate meeting will be conducted prior to each days <br /> activities to review the following: <br /> -location of the health and safety supplies on-site <br /> -location of nearby telephones <br /> -emergency procedures <br /> -review procedures for working around heavy equipment <br /> -establish exclusion zone <br /> Any personnel who may need to enter an exclusion or contamination zone must have completed an OSHA 40 hour <br /> hazardous waste operations training. All visitors must check in with the site safety officer. <br /> D-1 <br />
