SJDA 4 FLOOR 0007 <br /> MAY-10-96 16.07 FROM:WESTO" NCA ID : 5106^77901 PAGE 6/10 <br /> 2.4.2 Leaking Underground Storage Tank <br /> Activation of Secondary Containment Monitoring Device <br /> Sudden Drop in Waste Oil Underground Storage Tank Level <br /> In the event that the secondary containment monitoring device is activated or a sudden <br /> drop in the level of the used oil in the waste oil underground storage tank occurs, the <br /> Emergency Coordinator shall do the following. <br /> • Test the monitoring device to confirm that its activation is a result of fluid in the <br /> secondary containment or that the device is working. <br /> • Contact the Environmental Department Manager listed in Table 1 and report the <br /> potential release. The Manager will in turn, contact the Environmental Cleanup <br /> Contractor. <br /> The Environmental Department Manager will arrange for the waste oil to be removed <br /> from the secondary containment and for the waste oil underground storage tank to be <br /> removed or repaired within 30 days of the discovery of the leak. As Pep Boys does not <br /> have in-house tank repair/removal capabilities, all work will be done by outside <br /> contractors. Any releases of waste oil from the secondary containment or pipes <br /> discovered during the removal/repair will be immediately removed and sent for <br /> treatment/disposal at an appropriate facility. <br /> 2.5 Agency Notification <br /> Upon discovery of any release, the Environmental Department Manager must be contacted <br /> by the Emergency Coordinator or his/her designee. Surface spills less than one Ballon in <br /> the service bays that are immediately cleaned up by the service technicians do not have to <br /> be reported to Environmental Department Mana¢er. The Emergency Coordinator will <br /> give the following information to the Environmental Department Manager: <br /> • His/her name and position with the Pep Boys. <br /> • Facility name, location, store number, and phone number. <br /> • Material/waste spilled and its quantity. <br /> • Area affected. <br /> • Time that spill was first observed. <br /> • Response actions taken. <br /> • Facility contacts. <br /> The Emergency Coordinator should then report the incident as directed by the <br /> Environmental Department Manager to the appropriate agencies listed on Table 1. The <br /> following information should be given to the agencies: <br /> • Facility name, location, and phone number. <br /> • Name of Emergency Coordinator <br /> 5 <br />
