We have reviewed your request and the supporting documents
you provided, and we have consulted with the local permitting agency and water
purveyors. The local permitting agency has moved your site to its correct location in our
Geotracker database.
You indicated that there were no drinking water wells within 1000 feet of your
underground storage tanks (USTs) as the reason for your request. After the site was
moved in Geotracker, five wells were determined to be within 1000 feet of your USTs.
Three of these wells were California Water Service wells. Mr. Eric Mar confirms that
there are no California Water Service wells within 1000 feet of your USTs, and that the
three wells are incorrectly placed in Geotracker. The Lay's Restaurant well, according to
the local permitting agency, is also incorrectly placed in Geotracker. The remaining
Leisure Manor well, however, has been verified by the local permitting agency and the
water purveyor to be within 1000 feet of your USTs.
You stated that you completed the SB989 testing with passing results, and that all
components passed annual tank and line tightness tests, and annual certification
testing. The enhanced leak detection test is a much more sensitive test, and for double -
walled systems, must be conducted only one time for systems within 1000 feet of a
public drinking water well.
Based on the enclosed information, your request has been denied because the USTs
are within 1000 fleet of a public drinking`water system.
California Environmental Protection Agency
r i Rervcied Paper
