Heat Stress Monitoring <br /> Heat stress monitoring, measuring vitals, blood pressure and body temperature will be initiated <br /> at 70•17 ambient temperature as determined by a Wet Bulb Globe Thermometer. The ambient <br /> temperature will be used to determine the appropriate Work-Res Regimen as listed in the current <br /> Threshold Limit Values...and Biological Exposure Indices, American Conference Governmental <br /> Industrial Hygienists. Table 1 'Examples of Permissible Heat Exposure Threshold Limit Values'. <br /> All monitoring results will be documented and kept as part of the permanent site record. <br /> 6.4 Cold Stress <br /> Should any job be performed under extremely cold conditions,employees shall wear cotton liners <br /> inside their gloves and, if possible, boot liners; both items are for additional insulation. During <br /> break time, employees should drink warm decaffeinated drinks, coffee, and low sugar hot <br /> chocolate. <br /> Symptoms <br /> Cold Stress: Flesh takes on gray-glossy appearance, non-responsiveness of appendages, <br /> blisters or sores. <br /> Treatment: DO NOT RUBM Submerse affected body parts of patient in water that <br /> is warm to YOU the rescuer - OR - wrap the affected body parts in a <br /> warm cloth. Get medical attention. <br /> 6.5 Noise <br /> Portable generators and heavy equipment can be expected to generate potentially hazardous noise <br /> levels during various work phases; clean-up,removal,excavation,etc. Hearing protection devices <br /> will be provided for workers in areas with noise levels above 85 decibels (dBA). In the absence <br /> of definitive data, hearing protection will be worn. <br /> 6 <br />
