C1
THE
SOUTHLAND
CORPORATION
December 22, 1988
San Joaquin County Dept. of Environmental Health
c/o Mr. Jaime Favila
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, Ca 95201
Re: 7-Eleven Store #20304
455 West Grantline Road
Tracy, Ca 95376
Dear Mr. Favila:
I am responding to your questions concerning the gasoline
facility at the above mentioned site. I understand your questions
to be:
During the precision test of March 27, 1986 when all
tanks are shown to have failed, was more than 1 gallon
lost during the test?
What was the cause of the failure?
Regular Tank- Failed at a rate of -. 455 GPH. On 10-27-86 the
fill riser was removed, inspected and tightened. No other
repairs were observed to be needed. The tank system passed
precision testing on 10-27-86. Because a precision test requires
four hours or more to conduct, it is assumable that more than
1 gallon was lost during the test.
Premium Tank- Was found to be inconclusive at a leak rate of
+.265. 10-27-86 no repairs were made; the tank system was
retested and passed. It is assumed that no fuel was lost.
No Lead Tank- Failed at a rate of '144. 10-27-86- the fill
riser was removed, inspected and tightened. A precision test
was conducted on 10-27-86 which indicated a loss rate of -.092
GPH. No other repairs could be made to the tank vessel. It
was assumed that the tank itself was leaking. The tank was pumped
empty and abandoned. On 11-05-86 an unauthorized release report
was filed with San Joaquin County and other appropriate agencies.
A review of our file should reveal a thorough assessment of the
SOUTHLAND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES/ LOCATION 2987
5820 STONERIDGE MALL ROAD/SUITE 3101 P.O.
