,%W 4,
The Eastern San Joaquin Subbasin is bound on the south, southwest, and west by the
Modesto, Delta -Mendota, and Tracy Subbasins, respectively and on the northwest and
north by the Solano, South American, and Cosumnes Subbasins. The Solano and South
American are subbasins of the Sacramento Valley Groundwater Basin.
The Eastern San Joaquin Subbasin is drained by the San Joaquin River and several of its
major tributaries namely, the Stanislaus, and Calaverras, and Mokelumne Rivers. The
San Joaquin River flows northward into the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta and
discharges into the San Francisco Bay.
2.1.1 S/TE GEOLOGY
The subsurface lithology encountered during this investigation consisted primarily of
sandy silt, silt with sand, silty sand, and well graded sand with silt to the total depth
explored of 23 feet BGS. See Figure 3 for boring logs.
21.2 SITEHYDROLOGY
No groundwater was encountered during this investigation.
3.0 CURRENT SITE INVESTIGATION
The objective of this site investigation was to obtain the necessary data to analyze the
following:
• Determine the mass of contaminated soil remaining in the former UST basin if
any.
• Evaluate the recognized environmental conditions identified in the 1996
environmental investigation conducted by Kleinfelder Inc. for the purpose of
providing sufficient information regarding the nature and extent of contamination
to assist in making informed business decisions about the property.
On 3 December 2009, Hanover personnel and Ms. Lori Duncan from San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) oversaw the advancement of 6 soil borings
utilizing direct -push Geoprobe® equipment. Sample location SB -6 was added to the
scope of work due to physical observation made in the field. See Figure 2 for boring
locations. All the borings were abandoned by trimming the annulus with neat cement
slurry to grade.
12/22/2009 HANOVER ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, INC.
Soil Assessment Report
McHenry Ave Project
1303 First Street, Escalon
