Fremont St . , Stockton. <br /> RE: Three (3) soil samples submitted on January 30 , 1987 for <br /> rush gasoline and BTX analyses ; also one (1) sample for rush PCB; <br /> one (1) sample for rush waste oil and volatile organic analysis; <br /> one (1) sample for rush lead analysis . <br /> Procedure: The samples are analyzed for gasoline by following <br /> the method described in Attachment 2, Analytical Procedures for <br /> Fuel Leak Investigations . The samples are concentrated on a <br /> Tekmar LSC-2 automatic sample concentrator prior to injection <br /> into a gas chromatograph fitted with a flame ionization detector . <br /> Quantitation is performed , as total hydrocarbon response, against <br /> known concentrations of gasoline. The limit of detection for <br /> this method of analysis is one part per million (mg/kg) . <br /> The aromatic levels are determined by following a modified EPA <br /> Method 602 procedure. The volatile components of the samples are <br /> concentrated with a Tekmar LSC-2 automatic sample concentrator <br /> prior to injection into a gas chromatograph fitted with a <br /> photoionization detector . Quantitation is performed against <br /> solutions made from known concentrations of aromatic compounds. <br /> The limit of detection is one part per billion (ug/kg) , unless <br /> stated otherwise. <br /> The PCB levels are determined by following a modified EPA 8080 <br /> procedure. The samples are extracted at least sixteen hours with <br /> a solution of acetone-hexane (50/50) . The solvent is removed and <br /> the samples are placed into hexane and cleaned up on a Florisil <br /> column prior to injection into a gas chromatograph equipped with <br /> a Ni63 electron capture detector . Quantitation is performed <br /> against solutions made from known concentrations of PCB' s. The <br /> limit of detection for this method of analysis is 0 .3 parts per <br /> million (mg/kg) . <br />
