IT F=M ANALYTICAL SERVICES
4585 PACHECO BOULEVARD
MARTD=, CA
Attachment
Subject: Practical Quantitation Reporting Limits for Diesel in
Soil
For investigation for underground tank sites, the recommended
practical quantitation reporting limit for total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel in soils is 1 ppm. Due to the
differences in laboratory QA/QC procedures and matrix interferences
1 ppm is not usually achievable. Higher quantitation limits are
acceptable. The IT mobile laboratory will report quantitation
limits of 5 or 10 ppm, when achievable, depending on the matrix and
project QA/QC requirements.
Reference: State of California Regional Water Control Board,
' Tri-Regional Board, August 10, 1990, Staff
_Recommendations for Preliminary _ Evaluation and
Investigation of Underground Tank Sites, pp. 18-19 .
Reviewed and Approved:
r
apri4f S.
