3.3 Current Soil Sample Analytical Results
Soil samples were collected from borings SB-1 and SB-2 at a rate of one every ten feet of
depth Samples from SB-1 were collected at the depths of 5, 15, 25, and 35 feet below grade
Samples from SB-2 were collected at the depths of 10, 20, 30, and 40 feet below grade
Upon analysis no detectable volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (BTEX) were encountered in
any of the samples Diesel fuel was encountered at a concentration of 2900 ppm in the soil
sample collected at 15 feet below grade in SB-1 The three remaining soil samples collected
from SBA and the four soil samples collected from SB-2 revealed no detectable diesel
concentrations upon analysis Soil sample analytical data is listed in Table 1 of this report.
IT analytical reports are contained in Appendix C.
3.4 Groundwater Sample Analytical Results
A groundwater sample was collected from the onsite water well which upon analysis revealed
no detectable petroleum hydrocarbons. Analytical results are listed in Table 2 and enclosed
in Appendix C of this report
4.4 Summary of Soils Investigations_
In April 1988, a 1,000 gallon underground storage tank containing diesel fuel, was removed
from the site Diesel fuel was encountered in the samples collected beneath the tank in native
soil
In October and November 1988, four soil borings were drilled at the site, with one located the
backfilled tank pit and three surrounding the former tank location (Figure 4). Upon analysis
of soil samples collected from these borings, diesel fuel and/or its volatile constituents were
encountered. The greatest diesel concentrations were encountered in the samples collected
from the former tank location The deepest sample collected from this borehole (40 feet bgs)
revealed no detectable diesel concentrations upon analysis. Analytical reports for this
investigation can be found in Versar Inc's "Site Assessment of the Pacific Bell Ashley
Road, Stockton Facility (UE132)," 1989
MZJ i 2-08-93/ENG/93-1065 nbr
6
