Cr1%8r1NC. SACRAMENTO
REVIEW DRAFT
August 31, 1990
Mr. Harlan Knoll r'
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
445 N. San Joaquin
Stockton, California 95202
Reference: Addendum to the Remediation Plan for the Pacific Bell
Ashley Road Facility (UE-132) ; Versar Job No 6264.308
Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to present an Addendum to Versar's
Remediation Plan for the Pacific Bell Facility located at 7644 Ashley
Road, Stockton, California.
INTRODUCTION
The Pacific Bell Ashley Road facility is located in rural San
Joaquin County, northeast of the City of Stockton, California. Figure
1, Attachment I shows the site location. The facility is the site of
known soil contamination resulting from a 1,000 gallon underground
storage tank (UST) . Figure 2, Attachment I shows the site layout.
The UST had contained diesel fuel used to operate the facility's
emergency generator. The contamination was originally discovered during
the analysis of two soil samples collected from beneath the UST at the
time of its removal by LBME Corporation in April , 1988. Based upon a
letter work plan prepared by LBME, a site investigation was conducted on
October 31 and November 1, 1988. The investigation which included the
drilling of four boreholes, was supervised, at the request of Pacific
Bell , by Versar. The results of the investigation were documented by
Versar in a report entitled "Site Assessment of the Pacific Bell Ashley
Road Stockton Facility (UE-132) " dated January 3, 1989. The
investigation identified the presence of up to 7,100 parts per million
(ppm) of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel fuel (TPH-d) at a depth
of 30 feet below the surface. Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylene (BTEX) were also reported to be present but at low levels.
Benzene was identified at less than one ppm and the other volatile
compounds were in the range from zero to six ppm. Ground water which is
reported to be present at the site at a depth of greater than 60 feet
below the surface, does not appear to have been impacted. Figures 3 and
4, Attachment I show the borehole locations and the estimated extent of
contamination.
5330 PRIMROSE DRIVE o SUITE 228 o FAIR OAKS,CALIFORNIA 95628
TELEPHONE:(916)962-1612 0 FAX.,(916)952-2678
