The laboratory will be California Department of Health Services (DHS) certified. Each soil sample selected for analyses will be analyzed for TPH-d by DHS Methodology and BTEX by EPA Method 8020. Samples for bacteria population count will be analyzed by a laboratory not yet selected. Up to 20 vapor samples will be collected during the operation of the pilot study. All of the samples will be submitted under chain of custody to Trace Analysis Laboratory in Hayward, California. Initially each sample will be analyzed for TPH-d by Trace Analysis Laboratory Method and for TPH as gasoline (TPH-g) and BTEX by Modified Method CA- ADDL004. The sampling schedule is being developed at this time. Schedule for Pilot Study It is anticipated that the wells will be installed by October 1, 1990. By October 14, 1990, the SVX system should be ready for operation. The pilot study is expected to run approximately 120 days and will be completed on or about February 14, 1991 . A report of the pilot study's findings will be completed within 45 days of the study's completion. Included in the pilot study report will be an evaluation of what residual levels of contamination will remain after completion of a full scale remedial program. A Health and Safety Plan will be submitted as part of the final draft of the Addendum to the Remediation Plan. We look forward to our meeting in your office next Tuesday, September 4, 1990.
