nm
March 25,1996
San Joaquin County Public Health Services -Environmental Health Division
306 East Weber Avenue
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Attn: Ms. Linda Turkatte
Re: Naomie King Trust, King Island, Site Code 506032:
Modification to December 13,1995 workplan
Dear Ms. Turkatte,
Wright
Environmental
Services, Inc.
As we discussed in our telephone conversation this morning certain modifications to the
December 13, 1995 workplan are in order. The modifications are a result of observations
made on March 15, 1996 of changed site conditions (depth and quantity of water within the
excavation) which were previously noted in the workplan submitted to your offices by Wright
Environmental Services, Inc. (Wright).
The changes Wright will make are to the sample collection methods as discussed with Mr. Eric
Trevena and yourself will be:
• eliminate dewatering of pit due to logistical problems associated with accessing site with a
large tanker truck or carrier of temporary holding tank(s)
• collection of a groundwater sample from the pit prior to collecting any soil samples
• collection of two bottom samples (soil) through the groundwater contained within the pit
• potentially collecting four side wall soil samples through the groundwater contained within
the pit or at least four side wall samples just above the water table
• analyses for MTBE of select samples collected
Since access to the site has been limited to using the levee Wright will advise you once
arrangements have been made with representatives of the Estate to open the gate.
Please find attached copies of the Disposal Certification from Triangle Inc. and the UST
disposition tracking record previously sent by fax on March 18, 1996 to Mr. Trevena at your
offices. Also on March 14, 1996 Mr. Trevena in a phone conversation with Mr. John Affonso of
Wright requested some photographs of the tank with the PHS-EHD assigned tracking number
painted on it prior to Wright removing it from the site on the 1 5th of March. Attached are color
copies of the three still photographs taken of the tank and the tank pit area on the 1 5th of March.
If you have any questions, please call our Tracy office at (209) 833-0758.
?,nident
enclosures
cc: Mr. Wil O'Neill, Estate Admistrator
Mr. Mark Connolly, Esq.
Mr. Scott Maim, Esq.
Mr. Chris Palmer, C.E.G.
4220 Commercial Dr. #5 • Tracy, California 95376 ils
Telephone(209)833-0758 • Fax(209)832-5152
