Naiome King Trust, King Island <br />Health and Safety Plan <br />WES Project No. 413 1-P Page 2 <br />December 1995 <br />SECTION 2.0 PROJECT SAFETY AUTHORrrY <br />Personnel responsible for the on site project safety are the Project Manager, John Lynch and <br />the Site Safety Officer, Lester Messina. <br />The Company Safety Officer, John Lynch is responsible for the dissemination of the information <br />contained in the plan to the Project Manager and Site Safety Officer. <br />As such, the Project Manager, John Lynch, is responsible for ensuring the following items are <br />adequately addressed: <br />• Safety Supplies & Equipment Inventory <br />• Training Programs/Hazard Communication <br />• Accident/Incident Reporting Procedures <br />• Decontamination/Contamination Reduction Procedures <br />The Project Manager and the Site Safety Officer have the authority to suspend work anytime <br />they determine that the provisions of the plan are inadequate to ensure worker safety. The <br />Project Site Safety Officer shall also inform the Project Manager of individuals whose conduct <br />is not consistent with the requirements of the plan. <br />The following is a list of safety officer and supervisor responsibilities: <br />Identify emergency officials; <br />Identify chemicals and their toxicities; <br />Provide for first aid; <br />Perform site briefing; <br />Ensure proper protective gear is available and utilized - instruct employees in use and <br />maintenance; <br />Evaluate potential hazards, both old and new, <br />physical contact - lacerations, sprains, burns, <br />inhalation and absorption through skin, nose; <br />electrical; <br />Layout contaminated and clean zones; <br />Note and communicate locations of emergency equipment; <br />Promote use of the buddy system and immediate notification of toxic effects; <br />Note possible explosion or fire hazards. <br />Records of the above items will be documented as they are defined and implemented in the site <br />briefing. <br />
