Naiome King Trust, King Island Health and Safety Plan WES Project No. 413 1-P Page 2 December 1995 SECTION 2.0 PROJECT SAFETY AUTHORrrY Personnel responsible for the on site project safety are the Project Manager, John Lynch and the Site Safety Officer, Lester Messina. The Company Safety Officer, John Lynch is responsible for the dissemination of the information contained in the plan to the Project Manager and Site Safety Officer. As such, the Project Manager, John Lynch, is responsible for ensuring the following items are adequately addressed: • Safety Supplies & Equipment Inventory • Training Programs/Hazard Communication • Accident/Incident Reporting Procedures • Decontamination/Contamination Reduction Procedures The Project Manager and the Site Safety Officer have the authority to suspend work anytime they determine that the provisions of the plan are inadequate to ensure worker safety. The Project Site Safety Officer shall also inform the Project Manager of individuals whose conduct is not consistent with the requirements of the plan. The following is a list of safety officer and supervisor responsibilities: Identify emergency officials; Identify chemicals and their toxicities; Provide for first aid; Perform site briefing; Ensure proper protective gear is available and utilized - instruct employees in use and maintenance; Evaluate potential hazards, both old and new, physical contact - lacerations, sprains, burns, inhalation and absorption through skin, nose; electrical; Layout contaminated and clean zones; Note and communicate locations of emergency equipment; Promote use of the buddy system and immediate notification of toxic effects; Note possible explosion or fire hazards. Records of the above items will be documented as they are defined and implemented in the site briefing.
